The passing of time is often presented as solid moments, whether that be through a date, retelling memories, or the definable change from past to present to future. Despite the way it is traditionally discussed, time in experience is dynamic. Everything in any given moment is undergoing change as spaces and bodies continually translate into the present. Thus, a moment stops being just one point in time, but rather a collection of points in motion. It does feel a little oxymoronic to try and capture this idea of time through a still medium—but working with photography grants the ability to “stop” time. It provides a portal to observe how each of the pieces of my surroundings interacts independently with time and remakes history in its tangled, fluid form.
