Touch, 2020, Oil on wood panel, 3′ x 5′

2020 has been the year of rebirth, from a global pandemic to climate crisis, 2020 has brought into questioning how we as a society can re-imagine ourselves for the following years. Along with greater ideas such as new leadership, human rights, etc. I wanted my painting to simplify what should be reimagined. Touch, is something we have taken for granted throughout history. Being able to embrace love ones and friends has been taken away from us due to the pandemic. Having to reimagine touch during 2020 has been limited to elbow high fives and plastic wrap hugs. Within my painting, I wanted to create that sense of touch behind all the gloves, mask, and fear. The sense of touch that almost doesn’t feel real, but a cold object.
