When we think about history, our minds typically think about a time way before we were born rather than what is happening currently or what has happened relatively recently. A lot of us fail to realize that we’ve lived and are living through a textbook of historic events that future generations will learn about. A lot of the time, it feels like history is riddled with more negative events such as war and death than positive, especially now more than ever. Rather than highlighting back on an event like those, I wanted to highlight the journey of same-sex marraige in the United States, something that should be celebrated and recognized. This piece was designed as a book initially, but I decided to animate it into a media piece so that it would be easily adaptable for online viewing.
