Confused Mess, Black paper and white acrylic paint on white paper, 18”x24”, September 28, 2020

In order for people to understand history, we have to understand ourselves first. During a global pandemic, it’s not easy to really do that, and we end up feeling confused or lost. Our thoughts end up being jumbled and sporadic, and we feel pretty lost. Some thoughts are more concise than others, and because of our emotional feelings for different world events, we don’t really know what to do about it. I believe that this piece really encaptures the jumbled and confused feelings about everything. Every single piece describes its own emotion, and putting them together feels almost like a fruitless effort in order for us to fully comprehend life. We may never get the chance to understand everything, but with art, we are able to help ourselves understand what is going on with ourselves. Life has been changing a lot, and using art to file through all the lines and curves that life has to offer us, we have to make use of every opportunity we get.
