Reimagine the way you think about identity. When thinking about a person’s identity, people often think about how a person is in real life. However, that is not completely the case. One’s identity also includes how a person is when they are online. A person’s online/internet identity is the way a person acts and presents themselves online. The internet allows a place of anonymity. People don’t need to show who they are in real life or worry about what they do online. Most likely, people won’t ever see each other in person with the random people they interact with online. For better or worse, this allows more room for people to freely express themselves. From creating a character of themselves, to the actions they make, and to interacting with people all over the world, the online space allows all of these possibilities that further contributes and makes up a person’s identity.
