Fashion photography is often seen in the context of advertisements, giant budgets, and big names. Photography is used as a tool to sell clothes in magazines, and artistic expression is limited. Expensive, high class, luxury styles reign supreme except for when aesthetics of the working class are being appropriated. But can images that incorporate clothes and glamour exist without the conventions of fashion photography? Can fashion photography be used to explore the truly unconventional? In addition to fashion photography, themes of gender identity, the uncanny, and the surreal are explored.
