I am attracted to a campy 60’s idea of what outer space held for mankind. The images I created are a whimsical and gaudy portrayal; an antithesis and response to neutral toned, masculine, and sterile portrayals like Star Wars. Retro futurism is about anticipation. I built a narrative surrounding that feeling, one of fear but also arousal. The protagonist of this narrative is a retro space bimbo stumbling upon life on a distant planet. She comes from neither of the two space exploring powers from the 60s- the USA or the USSR. She comes from a hyper-femme planet unknown to the people of Earth. She is on a mission to pollinate other planets and explore exotic sexual desires. Will she transform fear into fascination and press her space face close to the strange faces and tentacles of the amoebas she has discovered?
