生き甲斐: Between Mentor and Self

Junxia Wang

生き甲斐 (Ikigai) Between Mentor and Self is a tribute to my former academic advisor and Professor Amee Pollack. Through her guidance, I began to understand that ikigai — a reason for living — is not something we discover alone. It is shaped through mentorship, trust, and shared growth. Through Rutger’s cookie retired party sculpture on Arpril 29, 2024, and interactive voice elements, I honor her presence in my journey while inviting viewers to reflect on the mentors who have shaped their own sense of purpose.

Folklore Under Tension

Chloë Oliveira

This contemporary folk flag is inspired by Viana do Castelo, a region in Northern Portugal, using traditional motifs to reflect unity, division, my bicultural experience, and cultural memory. The colors and icons speak to hope, struggle, and connection, bridging past and present while highlighting social and political tensions today.
